Yesterday morning I lost one of my best friends. My mom passed away. She is at peace and no longer struggling for each breath. I find comfort in that but it still sucks. We (dad, Darlene and me) made the arrangements and stuff yesterday...there will be no viewing...instead we are having a funeral mass/memorial service for her Thursday at 11:30 at our church, St. Mary's in Sharpsburg. I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers over the last weeks, they have helped us all. I am glad to be surrounded by such kind and caring friends, I love you guys. Thank you again.

| Hey. Guess I’ll start with the really important stuff, mom and what’s up with her. For those of you that don’t know, my mom suffers from emphysema, she was diagnosed several years ago. She went in to the hospital on June 9th with issues regarding her breathing and also mobility. After a week or so they transferred her to a rehab facility. Unfortunately things did not improve but she actually took a turn for the worse. She ended up with pneumonia and was sent back to the hospital June 25th. She went into ICU, sedated and on a vent. They are pumping her full of antibiotics and trying to get her stabilized. Just this past Friday they put in a feeding tube and also a tracheotomy, both of these things are temporary and will allow them to help her better. The doctor tells us that the pneumonia is getting better and things are slightly improved and looking better but she is still critical and not out of the woods yet. When I stopped on Friday she was somewhat aware and trying to communicate with me, this was not long after they put the trach in and she was not really sedated. It really sucks seeing your mom like this. I tell her at every visit about everyone saying prayers fro her and lighting candles and asking about her. I tell her she’s got a ton of people in her corner. And I really do appreciate what everyone is doing; I really believe that remaining positive helps more than anything. I just told mom that she made me a promise to be at the wedding in October and I’m holding her to it, she indicated to me that she was trying…that’s all I can ask, that she keep fighting and trying and not give up. So in between work and visiting mom we’ve been trying to do things too. Last Saturday Joe and I hit the zoo. I love the zoo. It was hot and crowded but that was fine. Hung out with Jen for a bit, played with the octopus and saw the penguins (event he babies). We also got to see the polar bears actually swimming! I got some great up close and personal shots of the one as he was swimming and coming right up to the glass. Got to see the baby sea lion too, way too cute!! I wore sun block but still got a bit red and now have a spot of lupus rash on my chest…gah! It’s not too bad and I’m not really that concerned, as long as it doesn’t get bigger or get worse. Joe and I plan to get a season pass for the zoo, this time we will follow through with that, I’m thinking for our Christmas gift to us…then it will be good for all 2010. Then this past Saturday was 4th of July so we had a few picnics to attend. Joe’s cousin Mary and her hubby Paul had a big cookout and invited just about everyone. Joe’s family is great and we always have such a good time when we all get together. I was told by a few that they can not wait for our wedding and how much fun it is going to be. (first we have to get through the shower on the 1st) In the evening we headed to Don and Emily’s for more food and fun and fireworks! All in all it was a nice fun filled day spent with good friends and family. Also been busy with wedding stuff and shower stuff…getting together again tomorrow to work on shower favors and go over things. We are less than a month until that and less than 4 months to the big day! I’m not panicked about stuff getting done I’m just seeing how fast time is flying by and going eek!! Well, that’s about it for now. I should get back to work. Have a great week everyone {:(|) - Mood:anxious

| So, been a few weeks but hey…lots going on. First, wedding stuff. Got the wedding cake ordered! Yum-o. Can’t wait to see the final product, which will be when everyone else sees it = at the reception. I have beyond faith in Oakmont Bakery so I know things will be great. Got the bridesmaids dresses and flower girl dress out of the way. I also ordered my shoes. Now it’s just waiting until they come in. I do have to call the woman that does my usual alterations to see about her doing the girls. I have to, unfortunately, get mine done at the bridal shop (a little more complicated than your usual alterations and I need to have a bustle done). But hey if I can save them some money then great! I heard from the woman that has my dress and I need to call her later and set up a meeting so I can pick it up, then I have to call and set up my appointment for alterations in August (I’ll wait until the middle of July to call). We also met with the DJ and got most of that taken care of, I had to come up with a few more songs (didn’t realize I needed to pick a song to cut my cake to and things like that!). I also have to get him some info about the wine and such but no worries. I ordered my candles for the bridal shower, they are in and I have to make arrangements to get them from my lady but I should have them all ready to go with time to spare. Speaking of bridal shower, we (me, my sister, Red, Emily and Missy) met and got things planned and invites ready to be mailed. Yay! I still need to update my binder and organize it again. But yes, things are moving right along and things are getting crossed off and taken care of. Very exciting! So other than wedding stuff we had a few other things going on. We got our Verizon FiOS and I love it! I especially love the DVR box we got; I’ll never miss another thing on TV!! We had to go to a baptism for Joe’s cousin Brian’s son, Antonio. They had a joint party afterwards, for Antonio and for Maria who made her First Communion earlier in the month. Nice to see the family, as usual J Red had a candle party the first weekend of June and those are always fun, I love our candle lady Dawn (she rocks!). This past weekend we went out the Kim & Chuck’s for Autumn’s birthday BBQ, nice to see everyone and spend the afternoon relaxing. Also had the last day of school in there, thank god! I was so ready for this school year to be over. Of course that means that the summer will rush by and before I know it it will be time for the wedding! Wow!! Only thing bad that has happened is my mom is back in the hospital. She went in on the 9th. Having lots of issues with breathing and mobility and stuff. She was transferred to a Rehab place and they won’t start PT until they get her breathing stabilized and such and it seems like one big vicious circle. I have been telling mom (in hopes of pushing her along) that she has to be home for the shower and stay in good shape for the wedding. Keep your fingers crossed things work out and it’s not another 2-3 months of a parent in the hospital. Oy. Started riding bikes Saturday mornings, Red, Joe and I. We ride the River Trail to the boat launch before the 40th Street Bridge. Red estimates it to be about 3 miles round trip. We need to walk it one day to make sure. Speaking of walking I’m walking at least 2 miles 4-5 times a week and beginning this week I hope to get that up to 6 times or increase the miles per walk. Red will be joining me, finally, this week. I just wish I didn’t have to be at work so early, I would try to walk the 2 miles before. Oh well, afternoons it is, except on Fridays and Sundays – Saturdays its early morning bike rides. Hopefully we keep this up for as long as the weather holds out. Fingers crossed. Well, that’s about it for now. I should get back to work. Have a great week everyone {:(|) - Mood:blah

| So, not as long since my last post but a few weeks, none the less. I really should get back into the habit of trying to update on Mondays. Maybe if we get some access to things back at work I might. I won’t even go into the issues with the computers here at work. Let’s just say mine is in the beginning stages of death and it’s really just a matter of time until it completely dies and is a usless paperweight on my desk, the IT dept knows how bad my computer is and yet here I am still typing away on it not knowing if it will survive another day (I don’t even turn it off until the weekend because it takes way to freaking long to boot up and log into various programs in the morning) and I won’t even mention about being restricted from some sites that teachers have access to…Yes, we are back to that here in the Admin Bldg. But, nevermind… On Mother’s day we did our annual walk, Race for the Cure, with Joe’s mom and Emily. I did manage to get a few pictures posted already. Now I just need to print them all out. I’ve been trying to keep up on that so it doesn’t hurt the pocket-book too much all at one time, and it’s nice to have the pictures put away in the photo albums in a timely fashion! After the Race we had lunch out then stopped by to visit with my mom. I had taken both Friday and Monday off so I got all my “chores” done on Friday and I was able to relax and recover on Monday J The following weekend we really didn’t do much, those are nice and soon becoming a thing to covet. Actually, Joe’s been helping Chuck on the weekends with his house and getting all the repairs done from the water exploding right before Christmas (it’s a shame, he was almost ready to put it on the market and all hell broke lose in the form of frozen pipes…yikes). But while Joe goes there I stay at home and get stuff done there, work on wedding stuff and also just veg and read. (I’m working on a few series, buying the one online in hardback, getting 2 others at Half Priced Books – when they have them, and I just renewed my library card for 2 other series that have new books due this summer that I won’t be buying since I’m not starting to buy them this far into the series). I did go to see Angels & Demons with my sister on Monday. Very good movie, now maybe I’ll try the book…it is on my list and has been for a while. This past weekend was Memorial Day and another busy weekend. Saturday was errand running day with Red and then we cranked out wedding favors and finished up the centerpieces (both require the finishing touches done right before the wedding, but in my mind they can be called done). Sunday was Dave and Kimmie’s annual picnic. Always a great time, even the rain didn’t dampen our day. Talked wedding stuff with everyone I needed to talk to and thanks for all the offers of help, its friends like you guys that will really make things special for Joe and I. We’re going to have so much fun (part of me can’t wait and the other wishes we had more time!). On Monday we went over to the cemetery for the Memorial Service there, then watched the parade in Lawrenceville and hung out at Missy and Jeff’s for a while, over all a nice relaxing day. And when we got home we finally watched The Dark Knight, I know we were probably like the last people on earth to have seen it but.. :P Joe and I both liked it and thought it was a good movie (much better than the first, Batman Returns) and we both thought Heath did a good job, but we aren’t sure it really was an Oscar worthy performance (would he have been even nominated if he had not killed himself? We don’t think so…And I am a Heath fan so I’m not just being mean/heartless or whatever) So, last week I gave in and signed us up for Verizon FiOS. It’s being installed this Friday. Yay! We get the HBO package free for the 1st 2 months so I’ll get most of the 2nd season of True Blood watched. I was going to on demand the first season but Joe’s mom burned them for me so we can get them watched these next 2 weeks since all but Harper’s Island is done for the summer. I just hope the Verizon guys are gone before I have to go for my cake appointment at Oakmont Bakery, I don’t want to have to reschedule for the following Friday. I’m very happy that Fridays are now mine and mine alone (they do not belong to work until the middle of August), of course I’m sure to have a lot of things planned on those Fridays but it’s not “work” work so it’s ok. Actually I think most of the stuff planned for Fridays will be wedding related, so that’s really ok. J Of course there are a few movies coming out this summer that I’ll be seeing with my sister on Fridays…Harry Potter, being one of them, as is Public Enemies with Johnny Depp – it’s the story of John Dillinger- it looks really good. Well, that’s about it for now. I should get back to work. Have a great week everyone {:(|) - Mood:busy

| Been a while since my last post/update. Not really sure why other than I haven’t had access to my MySpace or Facebook at work since the virus hit at the end of February and I really don’t go on the computer much at home other than to check email and hit a few sites in the morning before work. But I’ll try to be better. I did manage to get photos posted to both sites yesterday. First up is a wedding planning update. We don’t have to meet with the priest again until after Labor Day and that will be for the planning of the actual wedding time line. Yay! We will meet with the organist in August/September (I have to call her the beginning of August to set up the meeting, but she has us marked in her book). After we have those meetings I can print out the programs and get them ready to go, I already have some of the program figured out like names and who’s doing what but I’ll have to wait so I can have the exact order of things and titles, I also need to work on the thank you I want to include. Met our photographer last weekend, love her! She’s going to work out so well, her 2 main concerns are the same as ours = focus and composition! We have to see about visiting the church before the wedding day just so she can see the place, know what to expect and come up with some ideas for photos. The caterer is good to go; we will meet with him the month before to go over the actual menu then he’ll meet us at the hall the week before so we can go over how we want things set up. Talked to my bartender and got my list of what I need to get, she’s another one that’s just great and will be a big help with the reception. I’m still playing phone tag with the DJ, he’s booked but we’re just trying to set up a date to meet so we can have that out of the way. I’m going to Oakmont Bakery on the 29th with my sister to see about the cake…can’t wait! Then on the 30th I’m going with my sister and Red to see about dresses (fingers crossed) and then I’ll take Missy and the girls once they are out of school. I’ll also be able to set up something for my dress and its alterations and getting the bustle done. I have all the stuff in for the centerpieces and really need to get moving on them. I just ordered stuff for the favors and when they come in I’ll get working on putting the finishing touches on them. I have the invites sitting in the spare room, I need to buy new ink cartridges and get printing addresses and such. Still need to see Don about flowers but I know exactly what I want. The limo is also good to go, deposit check was sent and I got my confirmation email from them. Wow, things are really looking good. I still have a ton of little things I need to find and/or get like jewelry for both me and the bridesmaids and their gifts, gifts for the guys, some special things for the reception like pictures and frames, pew bows (I don’t need a crash, the church aisle is very long and carpeted and the priest actually discourages them as they tend to be more of an accident waiting to happen and are not really needed), need to see about our flutes and serving set and the guest frame (instead of a book). Like I said little things, but the do add up! We are at less than 6 months to go and things are shaping up nicely and getting checked off the list. It really will be here before we know it… So in between all the wedding stuff and work we managed to help Emily celebrate her 10th birthday and Easter on the same day, Joe and I went to see Adventureland (cute movie), we got Joe and his dad out for their Tuxedo fitting, hit the Cheesecake Factory (which I’ve been wanting to go to for a while now) in the South Side when we met with the photographer, went to the girls Art Show, I had my candle party, took in one of Emily’s softball games and various other things. May is shaping up to be a little busy too between fun "life" things and wedding things, that’s helping move things right along too…time really does fly when you’re having fun! Well, that’s about it for now. It won’t be so long between updates…promise

| Typed this up on Friday but had issues with it when I got it home. Gah. So, its been a long time since I did an actual update. Guess now is as good of a time as any, seeing as the computer at work is still totally f’d up with some kind of virus and I can’t really surf and I’m caught up on actual work. Dad is home and driving mom nuts, or is it the other way around? Anyway, as long as he follows doctors’ orders he should be good. Keep fingers crossed that he does! We have to keep both him and mom relatively healthy until after the wedding. I’m using all the tricks regarding guilt I’ve learned over the years!! ;) Speaking of wedding, things are moving along. We got the hall, DJ, tuxedos, photographer and rings out of the way (actually we still have to meet the photographer but unless we really don’t “click” she’s our girl). I found all my paper things (invites, programs, etc.) and just ordered them yesterday, I need to work on the wordings of the invites and programs, so as soon as I can I can get them out of the way and waiting to be mailed. We’ve had 2 meetings with the priest already, go the marriage class this Saturday, yay, the day before my birthday (we opted for a 1 day thing and it looks like it’s really the way to go, 10:30 to 5pm and that includes a hour long mass and lunch break). I called to organist, we are penciled on her calendar, I have to call her back in August to set up an meeting in September to actually plan the music.. I have a plan for the centerpieces and favors, I started buying the items to assemble them (I figure buy a little at a time and get them made and in a few months all of that will be done and it won’t be too much on the pocketbook, by spreading it out over a few months). I think we will be going to look/try on dresses in May, hard to believe that’s less than 2 months away! I have the caterer narrowed down, just need to see about tastings with them and then make a decision. I have my cake design in my head and I have to call to set up an appointment with the shop, she does them 6 months out from the date so I’ll set that up for May some time. And of course my OCD is really coming in handy, the lists are insane! Hehehe . But that actually is a good thing, I won’t forget things or wait until the last minute to do things/find things/make call regarding things. Other than wedding things other things have been going on…I’ll just hit a few things The beginning of March we had the Annual Renn Stock. It’s always nice to get together with a bunch of rennies. It was held a new location and not at all hard to find, this year! With some of the unfortunate happenings amongst our rennie family it was nice to have such a great turn out. Good friends, good memories, good food/booze and good times…we had it all. We will get to the Harp for one of Terry’s shows…one of these days. The following weekend was the St. Patrick’s day Parade!!! I was worried I had nothing to wear! We went in with Chuck and Kim and ended up finding Ray, Mindy and the girls hanging out where we always stand. It was not as cold as in the last few years, hell it wasn’t even cold enough for me to wear my kick ass green hat Katie made me at faire. I’m sure there will be other years to wear it. My green bead collection has once again grown in size, the fish bowl I have them all in might not hold this last batch…I have pictures I need to take off the camera and get uploaded…this weekend…maybe. This weekend we have our marriage class on Saturday, my birthday and Joe’s parents’ anniversary on Sunday. Saturday I’ll grab “Twilight” on the way to the class so I can watch it later that evening. On Sunday we will stop by my parents’ house before going to dinner with Joe’s family. Looks to be a busy weekend…yet again. Next Saturday we meet with one caterer to talk and try food in the afternoon then it’s off to Mullaney’s to celebrate my birthday. I think after this weekend things kinda slow down (kinda), we have to schedule dinner in April with Paul and Tiff (since they can’t make may b-day celebration, someone had to have a wedding on that day ;)…Becky) and we have Easter and Emily’s birthday…oh, and I’m having another candle party in April too, but that’s ok my lady is great and it gives me a chance to hang out with friends and family on a Friday evening….fingers are crossed because I know things are only going to get more busy as the time speeds rapidly towards October!

| Dad got some not so good news yesterday, the oral meds are not working to keep the water off so he had to go back on the iv lasik, it’s not the continuous one just the several times a day one. That will help get the water off but it puts even more strain on his already in trouble kidneys. It’s looking like he will have to have the dialysis, at least for a while, though nothing has been decided just yet. He was in good spirits last night when Joe and I saw him, he’s doing his physical therapy, up to 9 steps and a few time “around the block”. He’s going to the cafeteria for his meals and that helps, too, getting him out of his room and social to a degree. There must be some talk up at Harmer South about sending him home next week, well his doctor won’t send him home unless he is medically sound/stable so with the whole iv lasik and dialysis we’re really not sure about that. I, of course, used some guilt on him about being around to walk me down the aisle, I told him he has to follow the doctors’ orders this time. I hope he listens. - Mood:worried
